Cookie policy
What this site stores in your browser, and what it does not.
The short version
This site stores a small amount of information in your browser to make it work. Nothing that is not needed to run the service is stored until you agree to it, and you can change your mind at any time using the cookie preferences link at the bottom of any page.
Most of what we store is not a cookie at all. It is local storage, which stays on your device and is not sent to us with every request the way a cookie is.
Strictly necessary, and always on
A sign-in token, so you stay signed in between pages. Removing it signs you out.
A token for the test you are sitting, so you can close the tab and come back to the same paper. It expires after six hours.
A random identifier for your browser, so we can count your one free mock exam a day. It is not linked to you and tells us nothing except that this browser has sat a test today.
The qualification route you chose, so we do not ask twice.
Your cookie choice itself, so we do not ask again for six months.
A small cookie recording only that somebody is signed in on this browser, so the page can show the right menu before it has finished loading. It contains no name, no email address and no token.
These are needed for the service to work and do not require consent. They are not used to track you across other websites.
Analytics, only if you agree
If you accept analytics, Google Analytics is loaded and sets its own cookies to recognise a returning browser. If you decline, it is never loaded and no request is made to Google at all. We do not load it first and then ask.
We use it to see which study pages get used and where people give up. We never send your answers, your score, your email address or any question text.
What we do not use
There are no advertising cookies, no advertising trackers, no social media pixels and no session recording on this site. We do not show adverts.
Changing your mind, or clearing it
The cookie preferences link at the bottom of every page reopens the choice, including when you are signed in. Turning analytics off stops it being used from that moment.
Clearing site data in your browser removes everything this site has stored on your device. You will be signed out, asked the onboarding questions again, and asked about cookies again.
